When Women Were Birds
Feathers spread hope, birds exude freedom, nests give shelter - they all nurture us deeply.
Birds remind us of who we once were and teach us how to listen.
ENGAGE. LOVE. BREAK OPEN.
"Finding beauty in a broken world is creating beauty in the world we find.”
~ Terry Tempest Williams ~
"I am slowly, painfully discovering that my refuge is not found in my mother, my grandmother, or even the birds of Bear River.
My refuge exists in my capacity to love.
If I can learn to love death then I can begin to find refuge in change."
Terry Tempest Williams
CREATE YOUR ALTAR
Consider this a holy threshold, a quiet stepping into the unvoiced, where we honour the long lineage of women who arrived before us, and in doing so, return to our own silent kinship with the earth. We assemble not to do, but to wake - to stir the sleeping, winged creature within - moving through intentional ritual from the quietude of 'paper tombstones' - those desolate, abandoned journals - into the vibrant stories, the heavy silences, and the immense, inherited 'wings' of our mothers and grandmothers.
To enter this space is to accept a difficult intimacy, a necessary bravery. It is a slow walk through the dense woods of the psyche to reclaim that which was lost, offering healing, and becoming, at last, a coherent, whole being.
Let your deepest intuition be your guide, serving the quiet, internal voice that already knows the way home.
