THE RIVER TWICE is an Online Painting Course about transformation, identity, memory, and the strange, beautiful process of becoming.

Inspired by the life and visual language of Frida Kahlo, we’ll step into a world where the personal becomes symbolic, where flowers can carry secrets, animals can become companions, the body can become a landscape, and ordinary objects can tell extraordinary stories.

​

Frida painted herself over and over - not because she was trying to capture one fixed version of who she was, but because the self is never finished.

​

In this course, we’ll explore how she turned pain, love, loss, resilience, heritage, dreams, nature, and everyday life into powerful visual stories. We’ll look closely at her portraits, compositions, colors, symbols, plants, animals, clothing, and recurring imagery, as well as the cultural and personal worlds that shaped her work.

 

Then we’ll turn those ideas toward your own story.

Through slideshows filled with paintings and visual inspiration, stories from Frida’s life, demonstrational videos, creative and writing prompts as well as painting exercises, you’ll experiment with ways of making the invisible visible.

You’ll explore questions like:

Who were you?
Who are you now?
Who are you becoming?
What have you outgrown?
What are you carrying with you?
And what are you finally ready to leave behind?

We’ll work with symbolism, self-portraiture, color, pattern, nature, objects, memory, and imagination to create paintings that aren't simply pictures of ourselves - but portraits of inner change.

There are no perfect answers. No right version of yourself to paint.
Because, like a river, you are allowed to change.
You can return to the same place and discover that neither the river nor you are the same.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
